This was the first year for goats at the Germantown Fair and
we had a blast.  We are so excited to have a table full of
trophies and the kids have pretty full savings accounts too!
Veteran Goat Farmer David
Throckmorton shares his
wisdom before the show.
Caleb watching his brothers and
sister for hints about showing.
Trying to stay cool as we
wait for the next class.
Stephanie Tucker's goat "Pedro" was purchased for
$600.00 by Rocking E Ranch and The Buffalo
Trace Goat Association.  Good Job, Steph!!!
We started off Wednesday night with Showmanship which is split according to the child's age.  Our 9 year
old, Jacob won his division.
On Thursday, the goats were put into classes according to weight.  We took 5 goats, 3 wethers and 2
does.  They all showed in separate classes except the does were together.  Jacob's largest wether, which
was 5 months old and weighed 91 lbs won his class and went on to win Grand Champion!!
On Friday morning, our 4 year old, Noah competed in Novice Showmanship and won his class.
Hannah is 13 and did excellent for never showing before, she just had some hefty competition and Jacob had
the best goat of all ours.
Friday night was the Premium Sale.  The kids pick one animal to put through the sale, but they get to keep
the money and the animal.  We had no idea how the sale would go.  7 kids put their goats in the sale and all
were very excited with the results.  Grand Champion brought $1800.00, Reserve-$1200, and the least any
child got was $550.00.  It was a great night for the goat industry.
