BOER GOATS!?!? It all started in 2002,when I was at the stockyards selling some cows.
In the ring came two Boer cross does supposedly bred. Well five months later, no kids,
we needed a buck. I started looking on the internet for some more boer goats and the
rest is history. Over the past five years we have gone through a continuous learning
process, needless to say the two does from the stockyards never worked out. We have
worked to balance our genetics, nutrition, and management. We have in our genetic pool
many of the heavy hitters that are important for a good base, but at the same time many
factors are more important than a piece of paper. One area we have worked for is a goat
with four clean teats. All of our herdsires have this and at least 90 % of our does. Two
teats do not help in February when your does are having triplets.
We have worked very hard at the nutrition component and with the help of our local feed
mill, have found a mixed feed the goats do well on and is affordable. Our management
includes Bar Vac CDT, Cydectin, Rumensin in our mineral, and pneumonia vaccines. We
are member# 11414 of the IBGA.
If you see something you like, you can either e-mail us, call us, or feel free to stop by the
ranch anytime.
